Amy Childs Reflects on Yo-Yo Dieting and Health Journey
The reality star details struggles with body confidence due to inconsistent dieting and shares her path toward healthier habits.
Amy Childs has opened up about her long-standing struggles with body confidence, attributing them to a cycle of yo-yo dieting. The former TOWIE star shared her experiences in a candid social media post, reflecting on a period where her weight plummeted to under seven stone.
Childs explained that for a long time, she believed she was dieting correctly by restricting food and exercising intensely, but consistently found herself back where she started. "I was definitely not happy with how I looked and, honestly, not happy with how I felt either," she wrote. "I was dieting all wrong. I wasn't managing my nutrition properly. I wasn't managing my energy. And I definitely wasn't looking after my health the way I thought I was."
She described being caught in a cycle of under-fueling, stress, temporary weight loss, and subsequent regain. "I'd under-fuel, stress, lose a bit of weight, then it would all come back and I'd start the whole thing again. I was in that yo-yo cycle that so many of us get stuck in… that was me."
Her perspective shifted after seeking help from nutritionist and trainer Jon Kirk. Childs emphasized that her new approach is not simply about "eat less, move more," but involves understanding different phases, mindset, and adapting healthy habits to real life. "What I didn't understand was that it's not just about 'eat less, move more'. There's so much more to it… the different phases, your mindset and actually making it work around your real life. Since working with Jon, that's what has changed everything for me."
She reported improvements in her nutrition, increased strength, and noticeable changes in her body composition and skin. "I feel stronger, I feel more confident and, for the first time, I don't feel like I'm stuck in that diet, lose, regain cycle anymore," Childs stated. She acknowledged that her journey is ongoing but feels she is finally heading in the right direction with proper support.
Childs also recounted a difficult experience with skinny jabs, which she tried for two weeks in an attempt to lose post-baby weight. She described feeling severely ill, experiencing nausea, and being bedridden for three days. "I was so ill - I cannot tell you," she revealed. Despite friends and family using similar treatments successfully, the jabs did not work for her and
