Amy Childs announced the death of her cousin Hannah Brincat's 11-month-old daughter, Lila, who succumbed to a rare and aggressive brain tumor. Childs shared the heartbreaking news on Tuesday night.
Lila was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumour (AT/RT) just three weeks after her birth in September 2025. AT/RT is a fast-growing, aggressive cancerous tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord in children under three years old.
Hannah Brincat announced Lila's passing on a JustGiving crowdfunding page established to support her daughter's treatment. The page detailed Lila's journey, noting she underwent a nine-hour brain surgery at three weeks old and started chemotherapy at five weeks old. Despite six rounds of chemotherapy, an MRI revealed the tumor had returned, and her family was informed that further treatment was not an option.
The family had sought a second opinion from an oncologist in Toronto specializing in AT/RT research. A JustGiving page was set up to cover potential costs for experimental treatments, with a target of £30,000. As of the reporting, the page had raised over £27,400. Brincat stated that any unused funds would be donated to charities that supported their family.
Childs had previously advocated for the fundraising page in March, sharing it on her social media and encouraging her followers to donate or share to help her cousin's daughter. Lila Aimee Rose Brincat was born on September 25, 2025, and died on September 5, 2026, according to the crowdfunding page. Brincat described Lila as a "miracle girl" who "changed our world forever."
