American Woman Documents 71 Wetherspoons Visits on TikTok

Stacey Gitten, an American who moved from Chicago to Southampton, England, has embarked on a mission to visit 71 Wetherspoons pubs across the United Kingdom. She documents her experiences on TikTok under the handle @staceyintheUK.

Gitten's journey began in 2024 when she first visited a Wetherspoons with her husband, Andrew. While she has explored numerous locations, from Edinburgh to Wales, her culinary exploration has been consistent. Her go-to breakfast order is Eggs Benedict, and for evenings, she and her husband often choose chicken tikka masala or pizza, accompanied by a cherry Pepsi Max.

Her visits to Wetherspoons pubs have also introduced her to other British cultural elements, such as trying traditional chippy and making beans on toast. Gitten's online following often suggests new locations for her to visit.

While Gitten has found many Wetherspoons to be unique, her favorite so far is The Royal Hop Pole in Tewkesbury, Cotswolds, praised for its riverside location and scenic sunsets. She described the Aldershot location as "forgettable." Despite general perceptions of the chain, Gitten notes that "even the worst ones we’ve been in, the staff have always been wonderful."

She expressed particular admiration for the pubs' restrooms, describing them as "extravagant and beautiful." One notable example is the Isambard Kingdom Brunel in Portsmouth, which she called the "most stunning bathroom I’ve ever seen in my life."

Gitten also shared some cultural adjustments she has made, including no longer using the term "serviettes" and finding "cutlery" to sound overly formal. She also noted a difference in how Americans and Britons handle cutlery at the table, with Americans reportedly using knives less frequently.
