An American woman died after falling from the 18th floor of the Breathless resort and spa in Cancun, Mexico, on Thursday night. Police have opened an investigation into the incident and are questioning her husband.

According to local reports, the woman's husband alerted hotel staff, stating that his wife had done something "outrageous." Hotel security responded and found the woman had fallen approximately 150 feet. Emergency services were called to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead.

Both the woman and her husband were guests at the hotel. The hotel has been contacted for comment.

This incident follows another tourist death in Cancun last month, when a British man drowned at San Miguelito beach. The 60-year-old entered the water despite a red flag warning and was swept away by strong waves. His children were rescued, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family reportedly claimed lifeguards were slow to respond.

Cancun is a popular resort destination on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, known for its beaches and nightlife.
