'American Idol' Alum's Love Songs for Mistress Played at Murder Trial

Former "American Idol" contestant Caleb Flynn, 40, is currently on trial for the February murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn, at their Ohio home. During the proceedings on Wednesday, prosecutors played two songs Flynn allegedly wrote for his mistress, 24-year-old Alleigha Botner. The AI-generated songs, described as "painfully corny," elicited audible smirks and stifled laughter from the victim's relatives in the courtroom.
One song featured lyrics such as, "If somewhere you feel this, if somewhere you’re whole, know that you still own every piece of my soul." Another line referenced "the third of every month" as a significant date, possibly alluding to when Flynn and Botner first met. As the music played, Flynn appeared visibly uncomfortable, wiping sweat from his brow.
Prosecutors allege that Flynn had a years-long affair with Botner and murdered his wife, shooting her in the head before staging the scene to resemble a break-in. Flynn is accused of killing his wife, Ashley Flynn, at their Ohio home in February. The case continues to unfold in court.
