American Found Dead in Costa Rica, Authorities Seek Woman in Connection

Costa Rican authorities are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a woman suspected of homicide after a 74-year-old American citizen was found dead in late September. The man, identified as "Fleming," was discovered deceased on September 27 at a condominium in Playas del Coco, a popular seaside tourist town on the country's northern Pacific coast.

According to the Judicial Investigation Agency, the U.S. citizen entered the condo at 4:50 p.m. on September 27. Surveillance footage shows a woman leaving the condominium shortly after without him. Authorities later located the man's body, which showed signs of head trauma consistent with blunt force.

The woman sought by investigators has a fair complexion, a slender build, and black hair, standing approximately 1.60 meters (about 5 feet 3 inches) tall. At the time she was seen on surveillance, she was wearing blue denim shorts, sandals, and a white bra with chain-like accessories. She was also observed walking down a street with another woman in the released security video.

The Judicial Investigation Agency is asking anyone with information regarding the incident or the woman's whereabouts to contact them at 800-800-0645. The State Department has been contacted for comment.
