A 9-year-old American boy was airlifted to Miami, Florida, for medical treatment following a severe dog attack on a beach in the Bahamas. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Alice Town, the capital of north Bimini Island.
The boy was collecting sand on the beach when he was attacked by multiple dogs. A passerby intervened and managed to drive the animals away.
The child sustained numerous bite wounds to his right thigh, right arm, left leg, face, and head. He was initially taken to a local hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, the U.S. Coast Guard transported him to Miami for further medical care.
Authorities have identified the owner of the dogs and are cooperating with local police to locate and secure the animals. The boy's current condition is unknown as of Wednesday.
