American Airlines Plane Suffers Brake Trouble, Blown Tire After Landing in Chicago

An American Airlines flight traveling from Spain experienced brake issues and a blown tire after landing at Chicago O'Hare International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed.

American Airlines Flight 41, a Boeing 787-800 that originated from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport, landed safely at O'Hare around 2:30 p.m. local time. According to the FAA, the crew reported a brake problem followed by a blown tire shortly after touching down.

The aircraft carried 234 passengers and 11 crew members. Following the incident, passengers deplaned via stairs and were transported to the terminal by bus. American Airlines stated that first responders met the aircraft out of an "abundance of caution."

The airline has removed the aircraft from service for inspection by its maintenance team and apologized to the affected customers. The specific cause of the reported brake malfunction is currently unclear.

The FAA has announced it will investigate the incident.
