Amazon is offering Prime members a significant discount on gasoline for the July Fourth holiday travel period, aiming to challenge competitors like Costco. From July 2 to July 5, eligible members can save 50 cents per gallon on a single fill-up at more than 7,500 participating BP, Amoco, and Thorntons stations nationwide.

This substantial discount is a five-fold increase from the typical 10-cent-per-gallon savings offered to Prime subscribers. The promotion comes as many Americans prepare for holiday road trips amid ongoing concerns about fuel prices, which, despite easing for several weeks, remain elevated compared to the previous year, according to AAA.

To access the 50-cent per gallon discount, Prime members must first link their Amazon account to Earnify, BP's free rewards application. The discount will revert to the standard 10 cents per gallon after the promotion concludes.

For families, the savings can be extended. Households with multiple Prime members can each take advantage of the offer, provided each individual links their own Earnify account. Additionally, Amazon is offering other July Fourth-related promotions for Prime members, including discounts on groceries such as ice cream, frozen treats, and ground beef at Whole Foods Market, as well as select snacks.

Eligible customers enrolled in Prime Access, Amazon's discounted membership program for those receiving government assistance or qualifying shoppers, can also benefit from a $5 monthly grocery credit from July through September. This credit is automatically applied to qualifying grocery orders of $25 or more, providing an additional avenue for budget-conscious shoppers to reduce summer spending.
