Amazon Magnetic Toys Recalled Over Choking Hazard
Approximately 38,500 Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets have been recalled due to the risk of children swallowing loose magnets.
Federal safety officials have issued an urgent recall for 38,500 Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets sold on Amazon due to the potential for children to swallow loose internal magnets, posing a deadly hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on September 17, following reports of two young children detaching and ingesting the small magnets from the toys' limbs.
The recalled toys are described as 2.7-inch-tall, flexible humanoid figures containing high-powered magnets in their hands and feet. These toys are intended for use as refrigerator or whiteboard magnets, desk toys, and for children's play. According to the CPSC, the toys violate federal safety standards by easily releasing small, powerful magnets, which can lead to severe internal injuries if swallowed.
The magnets can attract each other or other metal objects within the digestive tract, potentially causing intestinal twisting, perforations, blockages, or life-threatening blood poisoning. Both children involved in the reported incidents required hospitalization.
The Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets were sold on Amazon from October 2022 to May 2026 for approximately $21. The products do not have identifying labels on the figures themselves and are packaged in clear, unbranded plastic bags within a brown box marked with the brand name "Jerify" and item number "X003ADA3TD."
This recall is part of a broader trend of product safety actions. Earlier in the week, other toys were recalled for similar hazards, including Busy Boards sold on Amazon, Target toy firetrucks, and squishy toys. These recalls have collectively affected hundreds of thousands of items.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately remove the recalled toys from children's possession. To obtain a full refund from the distributor, Colerinsec, consumers must dispose of the figures and email photographic proof of disposal to [email protected]. The toys were manufactured in China by Hefei Hanchan Network Technology Co., Ltd., operating as Colerinsec.
