Amanda Seyfried Prioritizes Family Co-Parenting Amidst Divorce
Actress Amanda Seyfried discussed her co-parenting strategy and role selection following her separation from Thomas Sadoski.
Amanda Seyfried has shared insights into her co-parenting approach and how her personal life influences her professional choices following her divorce from Thomas Sadoski. In a recent interview with WWD, the actress emphasized the importance of staying geographically close to her children and their father to maintain a sense of stability and comfort.
Seyfried, who shares two children, Nina, nine, and Thomas, six, with Sadoski, stated that proximity is a key factor in her decision-making process for new roles. "Things that shoot in New York, in New Jersey - that's very important," she told the outlet. "If it's shooting in Spain, we're not going to do it, because right now, the kids are a specific age, and my ex-husband's working, and I just want us all to be within the neighborhood of each other to keep things feeling safe and cozy."
The actress acknowledged that this filtering process significantly impacts the roles she considers. This approach to career choices also extends to her willingness to film intimate scenes. Seyfried recently revealed that she has begun declining roles that require extensive sex scenes, citing discomfort and the awareness that her children are increasingly observant of her work.
"Our jobs are weird. And as I get older, it gets weirder. We have to be romantic with people that we're not romantic with," Seyfried reflected. "Sometimes it's great. Sometimes it's really uncomfortable. But I can't believe back in the day I was just like, 'We gotta make out. Great! This is awesome. I know how to make out.'" She admitted to passing on a new show specifically because it contained numerous sex scenes, stating, "I don't wanna do it. I'm uncomfortable with it. I'm not into it right now."
Seyfried and Sadoski confirmed their separation in September, stating in a joint statement, "We have been separated for a while, and it's proven to be the right move for us and our family unit."
The couple first met in 2015 while working on the off-Broadway play "The Way We Get By." They began dating the following year and eloped in March 2017. Their daughter Nina was born nine days after their wedding, and their son Thomas arrived in September 2020.
Seyfried also discussed a personal rule regarding interactions with fans when she is with her children. "[If] I'm with my kids, I say no... whatever [they are] going through is more important than what I'm going through."
Earlier this month, Seyfried's appearance at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles drew attention after a brief red carpet interview with The Hollywood Reporter led to speculation among fans. In the interview, Seyfried made somewhat abstract comments about life and its happenings, later joking about her own remarks, "What AM I even saying?" This moment followed a period where Seyfried had expressed feeling baffled by her own responses during the interview.
