Amanda Seyfried Prioritizes Co-Parenting Amidst Divorce From Thomas Sadoski
The actress is focusing on keeping her children safe and cozy by taking on only local work.
Amanda Seyfried is navigating her divorce from Thomas Sadoski with a primary focus on their two children, aiming to keep their lives stable and secure. In a recent interview with WWD, Seyfried shared that her co-parenting dynamic with her ex-husband is centered on ensuring their children, Nina, 9, and Thomas, 6, feel “safe and cozy.”
This co-parenting strategy significantly influences Seyfried's professional choices. She stated that it is “very important” for her to only accept projects that are filming in her home states of New Jersey and New York. As a resident of New York, this geographical limitation ensures she can remain close to her children.
"If it’s shooting in Spain, we’re not going to do it because right now, the kids are a specific age, and my ex-husband’s working," Seyfried explained. This approach has led her to filter out a considerable number of potential projects. She did not elaborate further on her divorce during the conversation.
News of Seyfried and Sadoski's separation broke in September, with the couple confirming they had been separated for some time. In a joint statement, they noted that the separation had been a positive development for their family unit, emphasizing their enduring bond: "We’ve got each other forever — and it’s GOOD."
Sources have suggested that their relationship dynamic shifted prior to their split, with Sadoski reportedly working less as Seyfried took on more professional obligations. However, it has also been reported that the exes have maintained their friendship and are adept at co-parenting, remaining close due to their shared children and keeping matters civil.
Seyfried, who has previously spoken about navigating an "interesting" life stage, shared with The Hollywood Reporter, "I think everything that’s happening is meant to happen [and] everything, everyone that’s in your life is meant to be in your life."
Seyfried and Sadoski began dating in early 2016, became engaged less than a year later, and married in March 2017. Their daughter, Nina, was born shortly after their wedding, and their son, Thomas, arrived in September 2020.
