Amanda Seyfried No Longer Films Sex Scenes Due to Children
The actress cited her children's awareness as the primary reason for her decision.
Amanda Seyfried, an Oscar-nominated actress, has stated that she will no longer film graphic sex scenes, a decision prompted by her children's growing awareness. Seyfried, 40, explained that the nature of her profession has become increasingly uncomfortable as she gets older and becomes a parent.
Speaking on a panel at the Hamptons International Film Festival, Seyfried revealed that she recently declined a role in a popular series because it required extensive on-screen intimacy. "I passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex. Doesn't matter [who it’s with]... I don't wanna do it. I'm uncomfortable with it. I'm not into it right now," she stated.
She elaborated on the change in her perspective, noting that what was once seen as a fun aspect of acting has become a source of discomfort. "It used to be so fun. It was a non-thing. It was like, 'I get to make out with a hot person today, and they’re paying me.'" However, Seyfried, a mother to two children, Nina, 9, and Thomas, 6, now finds herself more hesitant due to her children's attention. "I have kids now who are paying attention to what I do," she added.
While Seyfried has not entirely ruled out future roles involving nudity or intimacy, she expressed a preference for projects that do not require her to be naked with a stranger. Throughout her career, she has appeared nude in notable roles, including her portrayal of porn star Linda Lovelace in the 2013 film 'Lovelace' and a graphic birthing scene in last year's 'The Testament of Ann Lee.' For the latter, she mentioned using a prosthetic. "This movie, it needed to be graphic, so, like, I had a prosthetic butthole," she told BBC's The Scott Mills Breakfast Show. She also described standing in a merkin in front of a burning building at the end of the film, an experience she found liberating.
Seyfried's next appearance will be in the thriller 'The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd.' This news follows her recent announcement of a separation from her husband of nine years, Thomas Sadoski. The couple released a joint statement indicating they had been separated for some time and that it has been the "right move for us and our family unit."
