Actor Amanda Seyfried announced Thursday that she and husband Thomas Sadoski have separated, stating in a joint message to People that the decision has "proven to be the right move for us and our family unit."

"We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD,” the couple’s statement continued. Seyfried and Sadoski share two children, a daughter and a son.

The actors met in 2015 while collaborating on an off-Broadway play. They later played romantic leads in the film "The Last Word" before eloping in March 2017.

Seyfried, known for her roles in "Mean Girls" and "Mamma Mia!," and Sadoski, who starred in the television series "Life in Pieces," were living on an animal rescue farm where their children attended a local school, according to a January report by Vogue. Seyfried told the magazine at the time that her husband "sacrifices a lot for me" and acknowledged that she often turns down professional opportunities.

Seyfried was observed without a wedding ring at a recent premiere for her new movie, "The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd," at the Toronto International Film Festival.
