Amanda Anisimova Denies Ozempic Use Amid Weight Transformation Claims
The Wimbledon finalist addresses social media speculation about her fitness.
Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova has publicly refuted claims that she is using weight-loss medication such as Ozempic following a noticeable body transformation. The 25-year-old tennis player has shared several photos on social media showcasing her altered physique, which has prompted speculation among fans.
In a statement posted to social media, Anisimova directly addressed the commentary, stating, "To all the health experts and professional body commentators in the comments, I'm not using Ozempic. Please leave me alone and out of your unique posts." The post, which was visible to her 522,000 Instagram followers, appears to have since been deleted.
This is not the first time Anisimova has encountered online commentary regarding her weight. She has previously responded to critical remarks, including one instance where an X user called her "too fat." In 2023, after the Madrid Open, she expressed her bewilderment at the constant attention to her body, saying, "The amount of people who comment on my body every day on social media... will never understand what the hyper fixation is about." Anisimova has spoken about the impact of such comments on her mental health, noting earlier this year that "It's overall cyber bullying all the time, like commenting on my body all the time, every single day."
Anisimova is currently ranked 11th in the world, having reached a career-high ranking of third at the beginning of the year. Her past achievements include reaching the final of Wimbledon last year, where she lost to Iga Swiatek, and also reaching the final of the US Open in the same year. She also holds a French Open semi-final appearance from 2019 and an Australian Open quarter-final.
