Alyssa Rose Reflects on 'Full Circle' Moment in Father Howie Rose's Final Mets Broadcast

Howie Rose's final broadcast as the voice of the New York Mets was more than an emotional farewell for the veteran broadcaster; it held profound personal significance for his family, particularly his daughter Alyssa.

Alyssa Rose took to social media on Monday to express her gratitude for the outpouring of support, calling the day "the most special day of the Rose family's life." She also revealed the touching, serendipitous connection between her father's last broadcast and Mets player Francisco Lindor.

"One thing about the Mets that is indisputable is that they’re a family organization. If you love the Mets, it’s because of a connection to someone special in your family. That came so full circle for me yesterday," Alyssa wrote on X. She explained that her father had called into the station on the day she was born during baseball season, and the song 'My Girl' was played on air.

She further elaborated on the significance of Lindor being the final Mets batter Rose called. "Of all of the final At Bats my dad could have called, for it to be Lindor, whose walk up song is, as well know, ‘My Girl’, it was clear that wasn’t a coincidence," she stated. "That was the universe’s way of reminding me that for my dad and me, it all starts and ends with me being his girl and it all starts and ends with the New York Mets."

This sentiment underscored the emotional weight of Rose's final game, especially as a planned farewell ceremony at Citi Field was postponed to the 2027 season due to inclement weather on Sunday.

Rose, who began calling Mets games on television in 1996, announced his intention to step away from the microphone at the conclusion of the 2026 MLB season. His extensive broadcasting career also included stints as a radio broadcaster for the Rangers and the television voice for the Islanders.
