Alyssa Farah Griffin Details Son's 'Terrifying' Skull Surgery

Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-host of "The View," has revealed that her 3-month-old son underwent a "terrifying" skull surgery. The procedure was necessary to correct a developmental issue where the skull fuses prematurely, a condition that can lead to physical and developmental problems if not addressed.

Griffin shared the details on the "Behind the Table" podcast, describing the surgery as "surgery on the skull." She explained that the condition, known as craniosynostosis, occurs when the plates of a baby's skull join together too early. This can restrict brain growth and cause abnormalities in the shape of the head.

She recounted that their pediatrician noticed a "slight inconsistency in his head" during a routine check-up and immediately recommended they consult a neurosurgeon. Griffin emphasized that performing the surgery at three months old allowed for a less invasive procedure and provided ample time for correction before the issue became more significant.

Griffin, a former White House staffer, admitted that the experience was "terrifying" for her and her husband, Justin Griffin, as new parents. She described the moment of having to authorize a potential blood transfusion during the surgery as particularly frightening. Despite the fear, she stressed the importance of trusting medical professionals and her partner.

Her son, Justin Jr., has since made a "perfect, full recovery." He will wear a corrective helmet for the next year to aid in the healing and proper shaping of his skull. Griffin described the helmet as an "extra layer of protection" and humorously noted that her son doesn't seem to mind it, adding that he looks "so cute" in it.

Griffin announced her pregnancy in October 2025, revealing her February due date. She also shared that she had undergone a challenging IVF journey, including five rounds of treatment over approximately a year, before becoming pregnant. She later disclosed that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis, which added complications to her fertility journey.

Griffin and Justin Griffin married in November 2021 in Vero Beach, Florida, after dating for several years.
