Agostino Abbatiello, 24, surrendered to authorities Tuesday to face charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and conspiracy. Prosecutors allege Abbatiello was at the "very top of the chain" of a drug trafficking operation that involved Penn State students and utilized two fraternities.
Authorities revealed that Abbatiello, a native of Long Island, New York, is accused of running the complex cocaine ring from two separate fraternity houses. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office stated that alleged co-conspirator Thomas Robinson and two other individuals have been charged with felony corrupt organizations, conspiracy, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity, and related offenses.
The operation reportedly involved more than a dozen Penn State fraternity members who were allegedly tasked with cutting and bagging drugs before selling them to students. According to prosecutors, the fraternities Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon allegedly coordinated with suppliers in New York and Philadelphia to traffic and distribute cocaine, primarily to students at Penn State.
