An alleged romance and investment scheme, built on the pretense of a San Francisco 49ers career, may have continued until the very day its alleged architect was arrested, according to one of the alleged victims.
Daejon Love, 35, is accused of defrauding 26 women of approximately $1.3 million by posing as a professional football player. A woman who describes herself as Love’s “last victim” stated that their romantic relationship persisted through August 24, the same day Love and his alleged accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, were arrested at Boise Airport in Idaho.
The woman shared details of her relationship with Love, who she knew as “Jordan,” including photos and receipts from their interactions. Her social media posts reportedly show fishing trips, travel, shopping excursions, and private messages. The exchanges reportedly contained romantic language and discussions about building a future, alongside images of a Corvette and a diamond ring presented as a gift.
While the woman did not state whether she lost money in the alleged scheme, her account suggests Love maintained at least one romantic relationship as federal authorities closed in on him.
Prosecutors allege that Love used dating apps to meet women and then directed some toward fraudulent investments, with Chan posing as his financial advisor. The elaborate deception included creating a fake 49ers career with customized gear, staged workout videos, and a purported contract signing. Love also allegedly invoked the names of NFL players such as Jordan Love and Tyreek Hill to bolster his fabricated identity.
Federal agents arrested Love and Chan on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. The alleged scheme, according to investigators, spanned multiple states and at least four years, with Love reportedly weaving a fantasy for his targets until the operation unraveled.
