New Zealand delivered a dominant performance to defeat Ireland 40-21 in the Nations Championship at Eden Park. The All Blacks scored six tries, capitalizing on numerous errors from the Irish side to maintain their 32-year unbeaten run at the iconic venue. This victory marked a maximum of 15 points for New Zealand from their three home Nations Championship fixtures.
Patrick Tuipulotu, Ardie Savea, Will Jordan, and Asafo Aumua all crossed the try line in the first half, securing a bonus point for the All Blacks. Ireland's solitary first-half try came from Jack Conan while New Zealand flanker Luke Jacobson was in the sin bin for a dangerous clearout. Jacobson was later cleared of further sanction following an off-field review.
In the second half, Ireland showed signs of a comeback with tries from Joe McCarthy and Hugo Keenan, interspersed with an outstanding score from New Zealand's Damian McKenzie. However, Anton Lienert-Brown sealed the emphatic win with a late try for the three-time world champions.
The win extended New Zealand's undefeated sequence at Eden Park to 53 Tests. Ireland, who had previously beaten Australia and Japan, leaves Auckland with no bonus points after their fourth consecutive loss to New Zealand. They will have an opportunity to rebound in November.
"Very proud of the men turning up here tonight and putting in a performance like that," said New Zealand captain Ardie Savea. "I think it's all been in the mindset. We talked about throwing the first punch, and you know we got a lead in the first five minutes, so that was a start. You've got to give credit to the Irish, they're real quality. But we're stoked to get the win."
The All Blacks will head into their upcoming four-Test series against South Africa with renewed confidence following their successful Nations Championship campaign.
