Internet personality Alix Earle has publicly shared her recent struggles with mental health, including experiencing a panic attack due to the constant scrutiny she faces online. In a TikTok video posted Sunday, Earle, 25, explained that she had taken a brief hiatus from social media because she was “getting into not the best place.”
Earle stated that while she has typically been able to handle online commentary, recent negativity has begun to affect her. “It’s felt more negative,” she admitted, explaining that constantly reading about her actions, appearance, and relationships can lead to overthinking. She recounted reaching a breaking point last week, during which she “just broke down in tears” while doing her makeup and later experienced a panic attack while on a plane.
“I’ve just been struggling a bit,” Earle said, noting that she usually finds solace in sharing her experiences online. However, she feels that recently, critics have attempted to find fault with her posts, escalating situations. “It just turns into something bigger,” she added, emphasizing her desire to share “human experiences.”
Earle also commented on a perceived double standard, suggesting that while viewers feel comfortable leaving harsh comments on her videos, she would be labeled negatively if she responded in kind. To cope, she recently spent time with friends in Miami and opted not to post a vlog, stating she was “overthinking everything about [herself].”
Despite these challenges, Earle clarified that she loves her work as a content creator but believes it should not lead to self-hatred. She mentioned recording previous versions of the video while crying but decided to wait until she felt more composed. Fans have offered support in the comments, with messages encouraging her to prioritize her well-being.
Earle has previously been open about personal matters, including her breakup with Braxton Berrios and a subtle reference to a dispute with podcast host Alex Cooper, following the dissolution of her podcast with Cooper's former media company.
