Alison Hammond Returns Home After Hospitalization for Panic Attack

Alison Hammond has returned home from the hospital after a health scare during a live broadcast of the ITV show "This Morning." The presenter was seen clutching her chest and was ushered off the set by co-host Dermot O'Leary.

In a video shared on Instagram, Hammond, 51, stated that she had her heart checked and received the all-clear. She has learned that the incident was a "massive panic attack." Hammond, also known for her role on "Great British Bake Off," said she needs to "learn more" about panic attacks and is currently "taking stock and resting."

"Hi everyone, I'm just getting in touch to let you all know I'm home, I'm safe, and I'm feeling so much better, thanks to everyone at the NHS who did the checks on my heart, lungs, bloods," she said in the video. "I'm all OK, it's all clear which would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. I mean the shame of it."

She added that the experience felt "very real" to her, and as she is "really new to panic attacks," she intends to educate herself further on the condition. Hammond expressed gratitude for the support from the "This Morning" team, viewers, and O'Leary, noting how much their messages warmed her heart. She plans to rest before returning to work.

On Friday, Hammond was taken to the hospital by ambulance after viewers witnessed her distress on air. She initially updated followers on her Instagram Stories, stating she was getting her "old ticker checked out" due to palpitations and hoped it was a panic attack.

During the broadcast, a loud retching sound was heard in the background after Hammond was taken off set. The show cut to a commercial break, and upon returning, O'Leary informed viewers that Hammond was feeling unwell and had left. He later confirmed she would not be returning for the remainder of the show.

A source told the Daily Mail that Hammond walked into the ambulance after leaving the studio and was believed to be okay.

Hammond has previously spoken about her health journey, including losing weight after being diagnosed as pre-diabetic. She has adopted a healthier lifestyle, incorporating exercise such as Reformer Pilates and boxing, and has been open about her efforts to manage her diet.
