Alicia Carmody, a prominent figure from The Real Housewives of Rhode Island (RHORI), has revealed plans for her upcoming wedding to fiancé Billy Kitsili. The couple, who have been engaged for ten years and share a nine-year-old daughter, Celina, are actively planning their marriage. Kitsili previously reaffirmed his commitment to Carmody, 41, during a proposal on the show, a decade after she initially accepted.
Carmody shared her wedding plans in an exclusive interview with The Daily Mail, also touching upon her summer activities and what viewers can anticipate in the second season of RHORI. "I'm definitely planning a marriage," Carmody stated.
Business and Family Life
Beyond her personal life, Carmody is focused on expanding her restaurant, Pizza Mamma, which she co-owns with Kitsili. Her summer also involves balancing her role as a mother, particularly as a "dance mom," which she describes as a full-time commitment involving styling, hair, makeup, and transportation for her child's activities. "It's a full-time job. I'm literally a stylist... The hair, the makeup, the outfits, driving everywhere, and just like balancing a big group of friends, trying to have fun," she explained.
Personal Growth and Television Persona
Carmody is also navigating a shift in her personal comfort zone, aiming to better manage her emotions and address uncomfortable situations. She described her tendency to remain neutral in group conflicts, likening herself to "Switzerland," a role she acknowledges can lead to frustration from others who expect her to take a side. "No matter what, you're always trying to make everyone happy, but everyone ends up getting mad at you because they're like, 'You didn't pick a side.'" she commented. She believes this approach, while sometimes challenging, has resonated with viewers.
Adjusting to the public attention since RHORI's debut has been an ongoing process for Carmody. "Adjusting to fame, I feel like it'll never hit me," she admitted. "When people say that they like, 'Oh, we love the show. We think you're so fun. We love your family.' I'm like, 'Are you [sure]?'"
For the upcoming second season, Carmody anticipates a more evolved portrayal of herself. "So season two, you're gonna see me. I'm growing up at 41. It's never too late to grow up," she said. "I feel like this was a push I needed." While committed to personal growth, she assured fans that significant changes are unlikely. "I can't change too much because it's my DNA. I can always tweak things. ... Don't expect miracles from me. But I'm tweaking. I'm learning. You know, baby steps."
Collaboration and Parenthood
Carmody is also the face of Ziploc's new "Lunch Confessions" campaign, which encourages parents to share their everyday lunch-packing habits in a judgment-free online space. "The campaign invites parents to submit their own Lunch Confessions on Reddit, creating a judgment-free space where they can share the real lunch habits they usually keep to themselves," according to press materials. Carmody highlighted the campaign's aim to move away from unrealistic expectations and embrace practical solutions that work for families.
Carmody acknowledged the contributions of earlier housewives, such as Vicki Gunvalson from The Real Housewives of Orange County, for paving the way for women her age to have a platform on reality television. "It's hard to watch me make mistakes on TV and the words that I say wrong. But there are so many people that are like, 'I'm the same way.'" she stated. "It makes you feel good, you know, that there are other people that are out there and I'm just happy. Was it the OC, right? Was it Vicky and all that? Like, she put us on the map. Thank you."
The Real Housewives franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and Carmody expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent mothers over 40 on television.
