Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has indicated that dating someone with conservative political views is unlikely for her. In an interview with TMZ, the congresswoman, who recently became single after splitting from her longtime fiancé Riley Roberts, was asked about her preferences in potential partners.
"I have to say, probably not," Ocasio-Cortez responded with a laugh when questioned about dating a conservative. She clarified that while she respects individual choices, political alignment often reflects deeper values. "But I think a lot of politics, sometimes, at least for me is about values and being aligned in values is tremendously important."
The New York Post reported last month that Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts had separated. The congresswoman had also recently shared her journey of egg freezing with the public.
During the interview, Ocasio-Cortez also touched upon the topic of having children while serving in Congress. Speculation about a potential 2028 presidential run has also surfaced. She stated that her life decisions are not solely career-driven. "For me, I make decisions about my whole life, it's not ever just in a career context. It's about how do I fit all of these things?" she said. "And I feel like my ambition is not just a career ambition, it's about how do we get to soak up as much of this life as possible?" She added that she was raised with a "family-first" perspective.
