Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Campaign Funds Spent on Luxury Hotels, Chauffeur Services
Campaign finance disclosures reveal thousands of dollars disbursed for lodging and transportation over a three-month period.
The campaign fund of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent thousands of dollars on hotels across the United States between July and September, according to recent campaign expenditure filings.
During this period, the campaign disbursed funds for numerous hotel stays, totaling over $17,600 across 12 separate locations. A significant portion of this spending, $5,044.26, was directed to The Memphian, a luxury boutique hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Another expenditure of $2,694.61 was logged at The Candler Hotel in Atlanta.
Further disclosed expenses include $1,617.63 at The Westin Southfield Detroit. The filings also indicate spending on chauffeur services. These expenditures come amid ongoing speculation regarding Ocasio-Cortez's potential future political ambitions, with some suggesting she may be considering a run for the Senate or the presidency in 2028.
Critics have pointed to these spending patterns, particularly in light of Ocasio-Cortez's public platforms on economic inequality and wealth, leading to labels such as 'champagne socialist.' The congresswoman has previously advocated for policies aimed at taxing the wealthy and challenging economic oligarchies.
