Alexander Skarsgård's 'Wicker' Premiere Outfit Divides Fans

Alexander Skarsgård arrived at the premiere of his film "Wicker" at the BFI London Film Festival wearing a striking all-gold Saint Laurent suit, but it was his choice of footwear that captured significant attention and divided public opinion. The actor sported transparent plastic Saint Laurent shoes, a bold fashion statement that has since become a talking point.

The unique shoes, which previously debuted on the runway in June, saw Skarsgård become one of the first men to wear the style publicly. Reactions on social media were mixed, with some fans applauding his confidence and fashion-forward choices, while others expressed disbelief or disapproval. One commenter noted, "He can pull off whatever," while another declared, "He can wear ANYTHING." Conversely, some found the footwear unappealing, with one user exclaiming, "New ick unlocked 🤢." Former "Summer House" star Paige DeSorbo commented, "We must draw the line somewhere," indicating her disapproval.

Some fans suggested that Skarsgård deliberately chooses outfits to elicit a strong reaction. "Alex likes to get reactions," one user observed, with another adding, "I swear hes screwing with us. He will wear anything."

This is not Skarsgård's first venture into avant-garde fashion. During the press tour for "Pillion," he donned a variety of notable outfits, including leather pants, short shorts, and sequined tops. In 2025, he, along with other actors like Brad Pitt and Pedro Pascal, also wore Saint Laurent thigh-high leather boots.

Concerns were also raised about the practicality of the transparent shoes, particularly regarding potential discomfort from sweat and condensation. "You wouldn’t even be able to see my toes, it would be so steamy," one online commentator remarked, while another wrote, "Oh my God, those shoes must stink between plastic and sweat."

Skarsgård stars in "Wicker" as a magical man made of wicker who marries a fisherwoman, played by Olivia Colman. The film is set to be released in theaters on October 23.
