Alexander Brothers Sentenced to 30 Years for Sex Trafficking and Rape
Twins Oren and Alon Alexander, along with their brother Tal, received the maximum sentence for their convictions in a case involving 11 victims.
Twins Oren and Alon Alexander, both 39, and their brother Tal Alexander, 40, were sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday for their roles in a years-long conspiracy of rape, sex trafficking, sex abuse, and sexual exploitation. The sentencing by U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni followed their conviction on 10 counts in Manhattan federal court in March.
Judge Caproni described the brothers as "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and denied their request for the minimum sentence of 15 years, admonishing them for their continued denial of the crimes.
The trial, which included testimony from 11 victims, featured graphic evidence including obscene photos, messages, and a video of an alleged sexual assault. Several victims addressed the court before the sentencing, sharing the profound impact of the defendants' actions.
"I stand here not only for myself but for every voice that Tal and his brothers have tried to silence," one victim, identified as Maya Miller, told the judge. "This is a life sentence I never asked for. This remains with me long after this. I carry a quiet funeral inside me."
Another victim, Katie Moore, stated, "These men spent years treating women and girls as though our lives, bodies, voices, and humanity meant nothing. But we are not disposable, and they are not untouchable."
Prosecutors stated that the brothers began sexually assaulting women as early as 2001 or 2002, when they were high school students. Over the years, they developed a pattern of drugging and raping women whom they lured to luxury getaways. At least 70 women were reportedly victims of sexual assault or rape by the men, who prosecutors described as "serial rapists."
"The defendants felt empowered to take whatever they wanted from any woman or girl who agreed to get on a plane, go to a party, or sit at their table at a nightclub," prosecutors said in a court filing. They noted that the brothers often seemed to prefer assaults when women protested, struggled, or were incapacitated.
The Alexander brothers were arrested in 2024 and have been held without bail since. They were seen grinning in court during the sentencing hearing, while their parents and wives, who had attended the trial, were absent. Their older brother, Niv, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing, was the only relative present.
The defense team sought the minimum sentence of 15 years, with lawyers stating the brothers apologize for conduct they admitted was "insensitive toward the feelings of certain women at certain times." Character statements submitted before the sentencing cited volunteer work the brothers did as teenagers, including assisting children with special needs.
Prosecutors had sought life imprisonment for all three men, while federal probation officials recommended sentences ranging from 180 to 195 years. Judge Caproni had previously suggested that the brothers should not be incarcerated in the same facility due to concerns about their mutual negative influence.
