Alan Ritchson, star of the Amazon Prime series "Reacher," quietly filed for divorce from his wife, Catherine, in December 2025, eight months before the couple publicly announced their separation. Records obtained by Page Six indicate the filing took place in Williamson County, Tennessee.

The couple shared their decision to end their 20-year marriage in a joint Instagram post on Saturday. "After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," the statement read. They emphasized their shared history, stating, "We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world."

Ritchson and Catherine expressed mutual love and respect, noting that "nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us." They concluded their statement by prioritizing their three sons—Calem, Edan, and Amory—and their role as co-parents, adding, "The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be." The statement also requested privacy and compassion, particularly for their children, as they navigate this transition and allow each other "room to grow into the people [they] are becoming."

Ritchson, 43, and Catherine, who met in high school while participating in ballet, were married in May 2006. Ritchson had previously spoken fondly of their early relationship, recalling how Catherine would bring him cookies. The couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in 2021 with throwback photos shared on Instagram, reflecting on their journey together through "precarious highs and suffocating lows." However, they did not publicly acknowledge their 20th wedding anniversary in May.
