Ruth Milburn, wife of former Health Secretary Alan Milburn, has resigned her directorship in the private consultancy firm she co-founded with her husband in 2006. She also redeemed her Class B shares in AM Strategy, valued at over £1 million, according to recently filed documents at Companies House.

AM Strategy, which provided advice to businesses including healthcare firms, holds more than £4.6 million in accumulated profits, including £793,000 from the last financial year. Ruth Milburn's shares were valued at over £1 million when she cashed them in March.

Alan Milburn, who served in Tony Blair's government, stepped down as Health Secretary 23 years ago, stating he wanted to spend more time with his family. He has since been involved in a government review into unemployment and serves as an adviser to the private equity firm Bridgepoint Capital.

Milburn declined to comment on whether his wife's departure from the firm signifies an end to their marriage. He and Ruth married in 2007 and have two adult sons.
