Comedian Alan Carr plans to host a banquet at his new Scottish castle, Ayton Castle, following his acquisition of the 17-bedroom property in Berwickshire. The purchase, valued at £3.3 million, is part of Carr's ongoing project to transform the historic estate.

Carr, who won the Celebrity Traitors, has had his castle makeover documented by streaming channel Disney+. The show is expected to follow his efforts in turning the castle into a luxury venue, with Carr also planning to reside there as a live-in host.

The idea for a banquet emerged during a podcast conversation with fellow comedian Sam Campbell. Campbell playfully jested about Carr's wealth, suggesting he could create a moat filled with Lambrini, to which Carr responded by inviting Campbell to visit his new country home.

Carr confirmed his intention to hold an opening event, which would be a banquet. He mentioned plans for guests to dress in period costumes and highlighted the castle's features, including a ballroom, library, formal gardens, and follies, noting the absence of dungeons but the presence of numerous bedrooms.

Ayton Castle, a 19th-century baronial-style estate, is situated on more than 160 acres. Carr described his purchase as a personal response to a midlife crisis, opting for a castle over more conventional choices like a sports car or a new hairstyle.
