A 17-year-old Alabama boy is accused of fatally stabbing his mother and severely wounding his father following an argument about his mother's social media activity, according to authorities and a neighbor.

The incident occurred Sunday night in Daphne, Alabama. The teenager, identified as Brandon Baker, allegedly attacked his parents, Samantha Baker, 37, and Lance Baker, 46, with a kitchen knife.

A neighbor, Shawn Scurry, told the New York Post that he heard Brandon and his mother arguing loudly earlier that evening about comments on her Facebook page. Scurry suggested that the mother's posts, which he characterized as sometimes critical of her son's "attitude," may have been "starting to hurt him."

Samantha Baker's Facebook posts included shared memes and comments that alluded to challenges in raising her teenage sons. One post in September regarding Brandon's birthday read, "You are an amazing person and yet at the same time you make my blood boil." In another post, she shared a meme stating, "Gentle parenting is for gentle children. My thugs will be handled accordingly." She also wrote in a post, "Raising a teenage boy... 0/10 DO. NOT. RECOMMEND!"

Despite these posts, many other photos on Samantha Baker's profile depicted smiling family moments, including attending high school football games and church events with her husband and sons. However, some posts also offered glimpses into domestic dynamics, such as one that read, "Welcome to the Baker house…we laugh then holler then act like nothing happened until it’s time to holler and laugh again. It’s a s*** show over here. Enter at your own risk."

According to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Captain Justin Correa, the argument over Facebook posts was followed by a separate disciplinary dispute within the home. Authorities allege that Brandon Baker then grabbed a kitchen knife and attacked his parents.

Scurry reported hearing the attack, including a scream from the mother and the father pleading with his son to stop. The father, Lance Baker, a US Army Reserve Battalion Commander, attempted to seek help from neighbors, leaving bloody handprints on their doors while his son pursued him, Scurry recounted.

Brandon Baker reportedly returned to the home and called 911, describing the incident as a domestic matter. He was taken into custody and faces murder charges. He is being held on a $1 million bond and will be tried as an adult.

Samantha Baker, who had served in the Army National Guard and Reserve for six years and was working as a realtor, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lance Baker was airlifted to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Brandon Baker's 16-year-old brother was not home at the time of the incident.
