Alabama Dismisses Defensive Back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. After Second Arrest

Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been dismissed from the team following his second arrest in under a year, coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed Tuesday.

The dismissal comes after Kirkpatrick was arrested Friday on charges related to allegedly harassing and doxxing a University of Alabama police officer who had arrested him in 2025. According to police documents obtained by The Athletic, Kirkpatrick is accused of sending harassing messages to the officer via Facebook Messenger and posting a photo of the officer, his wife, and their two children on Facebook with the caption "Dis him?"

"After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program," DeBoer said in a statement. "He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players."

Kirkpatrick was initially arrested in Tuscaloosa on charges including reckless endangerment, attempting to elude police, and speeding. Following that arrest, he was suspended for the final seven games of the previous season before rejoining the team in the spring. He also faces a separate misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident from an incident in June.

Kirkpatrick, whose father is a former Alabama defensive back, had played in all seven of Alabama's games this season, recording five tackles. In 28 games over three seasons with the Crimson Tide, he recorded 17 tackles and forced two fumbles.
