Christopher Lee Drummond, 40, heir to the Drummond Company coal mining fortune, was arrested Monday in Jefferson County, Alabama, on charges related to alleged domestic violence incidents against his wife, Alexis Drummond, 37. The charges span incidents in Birmingham and Mountain Brook between September 2025 and February 2026.

In Birmingham, Drummond faces felony domestic violence strangulation and suffocation charges for an alleged assault on September 1, 2025, as well as misdemeanor domestic violence charges from an incident nine days later. In Mountain Brook, he is charged with domestic violence strangulation/suffocation for an alleged attack on February 25 in their seven-bedroom mansion.

The couple is currently going through a divorce, and Alexis Drummond obtained a protection from abuse order last month. Her filings allege repeated assaults and abuse throughout their six-year relationship. She has also filed a civil lawsuit against her husband, claiming he violently tore a necklace from her neck and broke her phone in June during a visit to the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, Monaco. According to her filings, Drummond was found guilty of intentional violence against a spouse in Monaco and sentenced to 45 days in jail.

Drummond was booked into Jefferson County Jail and later released on a $66,000 bond. He is the son of Garry Drummond, former CEO of Drummond Company, which was founded in 1935 and is a major US-based energy producer with significant overseas assets.

Alexis Drummond has detailed her allegations in court filings, stating that her husband has physically abused her, including strangling her, assaulting her while she was pregnant, and holding a gun to her head. She also claims Christopher's attorneys "dognapped" her puppy during their divorce proceedings. In a statement shared to Instagram following her husband's arrest, Alexis wrote, "All I ever wanted was a protective order for myself and my children. I am the only person who has lived my experience, and I can only speak to what I have personally endured."

Drummond is due back in court in September.
