Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal has submitted a bid of £38 million for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, according to reports. The 30-year-old England international is reportedly open to a move, with Al Hilal having made multiple proposals this summer.
Aston Villa, however, is determined to keep Watkins. He scored 16 Premier League goals in each of the last two seasons, a tally matched only by Erling Haaland and Mo Salah for more goals across the last five seasons. Watkins was not part of the squad for the Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain last week, a decision attributed to the club's management of players who participated in the World Cup. The club is currently planning for his availability for their Premier League opener against Brighton on Sunday.
In other transfer news, Aston Villa has reportedly agreed to a loan deal with an obligation to buy for West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The deal is understood to be worth around £18 million, and the 28-year-old is scheduled for a medical on Wednesday. Aston Villa had previously been unsuccessful with a straight loan proposal for the player, but negotiations have since progressed. The club has also been linked with a move for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson this summer.
