A ground-handling worker was killed on Monday evening after being struck by a French Bee Airbus A350 at YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport in Quebec, Canada.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is investigating the incident, which occurred during the aircraft's pushback operation ahead of Flight BF5761 bound for Paris-Orly. The exact circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
French Bee issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim's family and loved ones, as well as to colleagues affected by the event. The airline confirmed it is fully cooperating with the Canadian authorities and providing necessary assistance for the investigation.
Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) officials also expressed deep sadness over the loss of a member of the airport community. ADM stated it is cooperating with the investigative authorities and provided assistance to employees and passengers who witnessed the incident.
The Quebec coroner's office has been notified and is also examining the causes and circumstances of the death. Samsic, the ground-handling company the employee worked for, has been contacted for additional information.
This fatal incident follows two other deadly accidents at major North American airports earlier this year. A Delta Air Lines employee died after an airport tug vehicle collided with a jet bridge at Orlando International Airport, and a Frontier Airlines jet struck and killed an individual on a runway at Denver International Airport.
