President Donald J Trump International Airport in Florida experienced a temporary slowdown in operations Sunday afternoon due to an investigation into a "suspicious phone call." The incident prompted law enforcement to slow traffic entering the terminal as a precautionary measure.
Airport officials announced the investigation began around 1:23 p.m. on Sunday. "Law enforcement is investigating a suspicious phone call. As a precaution, PBSO has slowed traffic entering the terminal," the airport stated on X, formerly Twitter. The specific nature of the phone call has not been disclosed.
Travelers were advised of potential delays and encouraged to report any suspicious activity. "If you see something, say something. Report suspicious activity to law enforcement. Thanks for your patience & cooperation," officials urged.
By approximately 2:30 p.m., airport officials reported that roadways to the terminal had reopened and normal operations had resumed. "Thank you for your patience and understanding," they added.
The security scare occurred just hours before former President Donald Trump was scheduled to depart from the airport. Airport law enforcement confirmed to the Daily Mail that they were investigating an incident near the airport but offered no further details.
