Air Force Commando Dies After Fall During UTSA Game Demonstration

An Air Force commando died Saturday after falling approximately 170 feet from the rafters of the Alamodome during a fast-rope demonstration before the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) football game against Navy.

The service member, assigned to the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, was participating in a pregame aerial demonstration as part of the university's "Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans" event when the incident occurred.

Videos circulating on social media appear to show the airman losing control while rappelling from the roof of the stadium and descending the rope. The commando received medical attention on the field for about 10 minutes before being transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The fast-rope demonstration involved four military personnel. The fall happened in front of thousands of spectators attending the game.
