Neil Muller, the 54-year-old CEO of technology firm Node4, was found with a fatal stab wound to the chest in a downstairs bathroom of his £2.5 million home in Claverdon, Warwickshire, on June 7. A weapon was discovered in a nearby sink.
A coroner's inquest opening heard that ambulance crews found Muller in cardiac arrest upon arrival. He was pronounced dead at 6:37 a.m. In addition to the chest wound, he presented with superficial cuts to his wrist and neck.
Muller's wife was arrested at the property on suspicion of murder shortly after his death and was later released on bail until mid-August. Warwickshire Police stated that an investigation is ongoing and that there is no wider risk to the public.
Node4 issued a statement expressing devastation at the loss of their CEO, noting that Muller had made a significant impact since joining the company recently. The firm described him as a "seasoned leader" who was hired in April to enhance its AI-focused managed services platform, alongside ERP, CRM, and data analytics solutions. Prior to Node4, Muller spent seven years leading MSP Digital Space and previously served as CEO of Daisy, where he departed following a failed £1 billion sale.
Muller was also involved in local community activities, serving as manager of the local football team, Claverdon FC. Locals described him as having been involved in village life and having contributed to the football club. His death occurred the night after an end-of-season award ceremony for the club. Muller also participated in a 200-mile bike ride last year that raised over £60,000 for a Warwickshire children's charity.
The coroner adjourned the inquest to allow for police statements and a pathologist's report.
