Neil Muller, the 54-year-old CEO of technology firm Node4, was found dead on June 7 at his £2.5 million home in Claverdon, Warwickshire. A coroner's inquest opening heard that Muller was discovered in a downstairs bathroom with a single stab wound to the chest. A weapon was found nearby in the sink.
Paramedics were called to the gated property by police, who reported a man had been stabbed. Muller was in cardiac arrest upon their arrival and was pronounced dead at 6:37 a.m. He also presented with superficial cuts to his wrist and neck. A post-mortem examination provisionally determined the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
Following Muller's death, a 55-year-old woman from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of murder. She was later released on bail until mid-August. Warwickshire police stated that an investigation is ongoing and that there is "no wider risk to the public."
Node4 released a statement expressing devastation at the loss of their CEO. A spokesperson described Muller, who had recently joined the company in April, as someone who brought "real energy, momentum and passion" and whose loss would be deeply felt across the company and the wider industry. The firm had hired Muller to enhance its AI-focused managed services platform, alongside ERP, CRM, and data analytics solutions. He was previously the CEO of MSP Digital Space for seven years and before that, led Daisy.
Muller was also involved in his local community as the manager of Claverdon FC. Locals described him as someone who did a lot for the local football club. His death occurred the night after an end-of-season award ceremony for the club, although it is not known if he attended. In the past year, Muller had also participated in a 200-mile bike ride that raised over £60,000 for a Warwickshire children's charity.
