Agent Offers Advice to Giants Quarterback Jaxson Dart After Knee Injury

Legendary agent Leigh Steinberg has advised New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart to prioritize his long-term career following a significant knee injury that reportedly required meniscus surgery. Dart sustained the injury in the Giants' Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, an incident head coach John Harbaugh stated would sideline the young player for the remainder of the regular season.

Steinberg emphasized the importance of a comprehensive recovery process. "I think the key is to look at the long-term interests of Jaxson Dart, which are the same as the long-term interests of the Giants, and get the best medical advice, get the best operation," Steinberg told OutKick. "Put all your energy and effort into rehabbing because the truth is Jaxson Dart will have a long and illustrious career."

The injury occurred when Dart was hit by two Rams defenders. The incident cast a shadow over the Giants' season, leaving them to rely on backup quarterback Jameis Winston for the rest of the year. Winston is expected to start and aims to lead the team while keeping them in playoff contention, though his career has been marked by interceptions.

Steinberg also noted a trend of early-season quarterback injuries, citing Sam Darnold, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Kyler Murray as other players who have dealt with injuries in the first two weeks. He questioned whether the current offseason training regimen, which limits hitting and full-contact practices, might make players more susceptible to certain types of injuries by not fully preparing them for the physical demands of the game.

Given the frequency of injuries, Steinberg highlighted the critical need for teams to have capable backup quarterbacks. He pointed out that the salary cap limits the availability of experienced quarterbacks who are not already on a roster, making it difficult to find replacements during the season.
