Three Afghan men are currently on trial at the Dortmund Regional Court in Germany for allegedly gang-raping a 17-year-old girl. One of the accused, 25-year-old Kambiz H., was arrested in London after reportedly fleeing the country following the alleged crime.

Kambiz H., along with Quais W., 20, and Burhanulla N., 19, are accused of approaching the victim at a bus stop in Dortmund in the early hours of September 21, 2024. Prosecutors allege that the men persuaded the woman to accompany them to an apartment where they provided her with alcohol. During the night, the victim lost consciousness due to alcohol consumption, and the defendants allegedly took advantage of her condition.

Investigators found videos on a confiscated iPhone 13 that reportedly show the men gang-raping the victim and laughing while filming the assault. One of the men is also accused of attempting to open the victim's eyes during the incident. All three defendants are reportedly known to police, with previous links to offenses such as robbery, assault, and drug trafficking.

The trial began on Thursday, with the victim scheduled to testify on the third day. Evidence including the confiscated iPhone is expected to be presented to the court.

In a separate incident in May, five men were arrested in Rome, Italy, in connection with the alleged abduction and 72-hour gang rape of a 32-year-old Colombian tourist. The woman reported being lured from a restaurant near Termini Station by a man who offered to sell her hashish. She was then allegedly taken to an abandoned building on the outskirts of the city, where she was held captive, drugged, and subjected to gang rape by multiple men. She also reported her phone and wallet were stolen. After escaping, she was found by an Italian driver and taken to a hospital, where medical examinations revealed injuries consistent with sexual assault and drugging, prompting a police investigation. The five arrested men, identified as Gambian, Malian, and Nigerian nationals, were charged with gang rape. Investigators were also looking into at least three other individuals in connection with the incident, including the man who lured the victim and the owners of the property where she was held. During a raid on the building, 22 non-EU citizens with illegal immigration status were identified, with eleven receiving expulsion orders.
