Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, 76, announced he is feeling his best in 10 years after navigating significant health challenges and personal loss. The musician described the past four years as particularly difficult but stated he has emerged from these experiences stronger.
Kramer underwent heart surgery in 2014, an event that led to his son temporarily filling in on drums during his recovery. More recently, he has been dealing with back problems attributed to the physical demands of decades of drumming. He had surgery for his back approximately four months ago and is now in the healing process.
Personal Loss and New Beginnings
The drummer also spoke about the death of his wife, Linda Kramer, in 2023. She passed away at age 55, and their obituary highlighted their deep bond, with friends and family noting they were inseparable. Kramer acknowledged the profound impact of her loss but shared that he has found happiness again and has a new lady in his life.
Aerosmith's Legacy
Kramer has been a member of Aerosmith since the band's formation in 1970. The group, known as 'the Bad Boys from Boston,' has achieved significant success, selling over 150 million records worldwide and earning four Grammy Awards. They were inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and are recognized for their collaboration with Run-DMC on 'Walk This Way.' In 2024, Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring.
