The cast of the FX comedy series "Adults" has expressed a desire to see pop culture figures like Hilary Duff and Taylor Swift make guest appearances in future seasons. In a recent interview with Decider, cast members Owen Thiele and Amita Rao specifically mentioned Duff, with Thiele stating, "I’d love a Hilary Duff cameo. That would be amazing." Rao added that if Duff were to join, "we could all have our own little cartoons with her."
Taylor Swift, a self-proclaimed fan of the show, also received an open invitation. Thiele noted that Swift "can genuinely play anything she wants," while Rao humorously suggested Swift could even play her character's mother. Malik Elassal offered that Swift could portray the character Samir.
The cast reflected on the recently concluded second season, which has achieved a perfect 100% Tomatometer rating, and looked ahead to potential Season 3. Season 2 featured notable guest stars such as Raven-Symoné, who played Anton's sister Talia, and Zosia Mamet. Owen Thiele described working with Raven-Symoné as a "dream come true," calling her a role model and icon.
The conversation also touched upon the creative elements of Season 2, including a prequel episode exploring the character of Paul Baker, portrayed by Jack Innanen. Innanen described the challenge of acting as if he didn't know the other characters, a dynamic that was central to the episode. Amita Rao discussed the use of real-life footage from the cast's internet pasts, recalling her early vlogging attempts. Lucy Freyer recounted Rao's early YouTube videos, characterized by lengthy introductions.
The cast also detailed their experiences filming specific scenes, including a physical comedy sequence between Amita Rao's character Issa and Malik Elassal's character Samir. Elassal described it as a "full chase scene" that involved him making Rao fall and flip. The actors expressed a desire to perform stunts with minimal padding, much to the concern of the stunt coordinators.
In a playful turn, the cast discussed their characters' fictional political aspirations. Jack Innanen declared his intention to run for "White Boy of the Year," extending the campaign period from September to September. Amita Rao jokingly announced her own candidacy for "White Boy Of The Nation," planning a four-year presidential run, while Malik Elassal also considered entering the race. "Adults" Season 2 is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
