Adam Sandler has ignited a wave of speculation among Taylor Swift fans following his first public statement after officiating the singer's wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce. The comedian posted a message for the July 4th holiday on X, which many fans interpreted as a 'cryptic' nod to the celebrity nuptials.
On Friday night, Swift and Kelce announced their marriage with video advertisements displayed at a music venue, reading "JUST&T MARRIED," a reference to their shared initials. According to a press release, Sandler officiated the ceremony for approximately 1,000 guests. George Stephanopoulos reportedly described Sandler's role as "funny and touching."
However, on Saturday morning, Sandler took to X to share a July 4th greeting, making no mention of the wedding. He posted a photo of a 20-star American flag from 1818 with the caption, "Happy 250th America!"
Swift's fanbase, known as Swifties, reacted with confusion and eagerness for wedding details. "Don’t care. Violate that NDA and give us something," one user commented on X. Others humorously inquired about the event, with one asking, "How was the royal wedding last night? I heard you hit it out of the park. Congrats!"
Sandler has not yet commented directly on officiating the Swift-Kelce wedding. The actor is known to be a friend of the newlyweds. His daughters, Sadie, 20, and Sunny, 17, are reportedly fans of Swift, and Sandler himself has spoken about their enthusiasm for the singer and her music. He previously officiated a wedding for Swift and Kelce, forewent bridesmaids and groomsmen, and both opted for Christian Dior Haute Couture.
Sandler's connection to the couple deepened through his film work. Kelce made a cameo in Sandler's upcoming movie, "Happy Gilmore 2." Sandler appeared on the Kelce brothers' podcast, "New Heights," in 2024, where he discussed his family's excitement over Swift and Kelce's relationship.
He also shared his nervousness about meeting Swift in 2023, fearing he might "blow" the experience for his daughters due to her significance to them. Sandler has previously praised Swift's music, comparing her artistry to The Beatles and noting that "there's not a single song you skip" on her albums.
