Adam Sandler served as the surprise officiant for the wedding of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift, offering the couple marriage advice to "keep kissing" throughout their union. The ceremony took place on Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City before an estimated 1,000 guests.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who has coached Kelce since 2013, shared Sandler's advice during a press conference on Sunday. "Adam Sandler conducted the service there and he told them to 'keep kissing,' in its simplest form. That’s a good thing," Reid stated. He elaborated that frequent affection between partners is key to avoiding marital problems.

Sandler's role as officiant follows a previous interaction with the couple. Kelce had a cameo in Sandler's Happy Gilmore sequel and also hosted the comedian on his and his brother Jason's "New Heights" podcast in 2024. During that appearance, Sandler expressed his family's delight in the couple's relationship, noting how much Swift's happiness with Kelce meant to them.

Reid was among several members of the Chiefs organization in attendance. Notably, kicker Harrison Butker was not invited to the wedding. Butker, who has played with Kelce since 2017, was absent from the ceremony two years after his controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College. The speech, delivered in 2024, drew widespread criticism for its remarks on women's roles, abortion, and LGBTQ+ rights.

Despite disagreements with Butker's opinions, Kelce had previously defended his teammate against public backlash, describing him as a "great person." Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Coach Reid also offered public support for Butker at the time.

The wedding ceremony itself was a high-profile event, drawing guests from the film, music, fashion, and sports industries, including Bradley Cooper, Steven Spielberg, and Jay-Z. The celebration led to street closures around Madison Square Garden.
