An ex-partner of musician Adam Hyde has publicly stated that Hyde fabricated a story involving Leonardo DiCaprio, accusing him of stealing the anecdote from her. The woman, who lived with Hyde, a member of the duo Peking Duk and known as Keli Holiday, for five years in the U.S., claims Hyde has been passing off her personal experience as his own.
She told the Daily Mail that the alleged encounter at a Los Angeles party, which Hyde recounted on a radio show, was in fact her story. "This is my story. I think he's a loser for stealing it," she stated, choosing to remain anonymous.
According to the ex-partner, the event in question was Ben Simmons' birthday party. She explained that she was at the party, smoking a cigarette, when Leonardo DiCaprio approached her for one. She recounted a brief conversation with the actor before he rejoined the crowd. Hyde, she claims, witnessed the interaction and later interpreted it as DiCaprio hitting on her.
Hyde's account, shared on Hit Network's Carrie & Tommy, described DiCaprio bumming a cigarette and then attempting to flirt with his then-girlfriend at a party also attended by Drake. The ex-partner disputes Hyde's recollection of Drake's presence, stating he was in a different room and Hyde did not interact with him.
She also suggested that Hyde enjoys the public attention that comes with a high-profile relationship, referencing his current partner, Abbie Chatfield. "When he got together with Abbie - nothing against her, I think she's great - but there is something about the spectacle she holds that I feel like is very appealing to Adam," she said. The ex-partner believes Hyde thrives on the "spectacle" of having a famous girlfriend and that the attention provides him with a "dopamine hit."
Despite her accusations, she offered advice to Chatfield. "I would just say, keep your own personality, girl. You're way cooler than him," she advised, suggesting that Hyde has a tendency to make partners feel they need to adapt to him. "He makes you feel that way, too. I really had to work years trying to find my light again," she added, referring to her own past relationship with Hyde.
Hyde first gained fame as part of Peking Duk and later launched his solo project, Keli Holiday, in 2021. He and Chatfield publicly confirmed their relationship in 2024.
