Actress Jennifer Courtemanche, known for her roles in "Days of Our Lives" and the FX show "You're the Worst," has been ordered to pay $444,648 in restitution after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit theft. The funds were stolen from her former boyfriend, Gavin Maloof, a founding partner of the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team.

Courtemanche and her co-defendant, Brittany Burgess, admitted to a multi-year theft scheme that began in 2021. According to a criminal complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, the alleged fraud was discovered after Maloof reported receiving harassing text messages and photos from VoIP numbers that were traced back to Courtemanche. The pair also reportedly gained access to Maloof's phone and authorized multiple Apple Cash transactions without his knowledge.

Authorities stated that the first portion of the theft, approximately $93,000, occurred through Apple Cash in 2021. Courtemanche allegedly took an additional $275,000 in 2022 and another $75,000 in 2023. Police reported that Courtemanche received the majority of the stolen money, nearly $433,000, while Burgess received approximately $12,000. Of the 214 transactions deemed questionable, 144 were traced back to Burgess's phone, through which the funds were funneled to Courtemanche.

Investigators believe the scheme was planned in December 2020. Text messages between Courtemanche and Burgess revealed Courtemanche's excitement over Maloof's single status, seeing it as an opportunity to escape financial hardship. "OMG THIS IS IT he broke up with his [expletive] FINALLY and wants me to come out im not letting [redacted] or anythinggggg stop me this is my chance for BOTH of us," Courtemanche texted Burgess, according to reports. Her messages also indicated a desire to achieve a better lifestyle, stating, "I’ve been so down and out and POOR … we need to get the life weve always deserved no more struggling no more misery mental hospitals ERs etc lol." Burgess allegedly responded, "We need a plan."
