Molly Cheek, the actress who gained recognition for her role as the mother of Jim Levenstein in the 1999 cult classic "American Pie," was recently seen in Los Angeles. Cheek, 76, has largely retired from acting, with her last credited on-screen appearances dating back to 2012.
She was spotted earlier this month in Los Angeles, opting for a casual ensemble that included a grey long-sleeve top, black pants, and a dark sweater tied around her waist. Her blonde hair was worn loose, and she completed the look with eyeglasses. Cheek is a graduate of Connecticut College.
Cheek portrayed Mrs. Levenstein, the mother of Jason Biggs' character Jim, in the original "American Pie" and its subsequent sequels. Her onscreen husband was played by Eugene Levy. The actress reprised her role in "American Pie 2" (2001), "American Wedding" (2003), and "American Pie Reunion" (2012).
Her acting career also includes roles in "It's Garry Shandling's Show" and "Harry and the Hendersons," as well as guest appearances on numerous television series such as "Family Ties," "Diagnosis Murder," and "Murder, She Wrote." Her film credits include "Breaking Up is Hard to Do," "Purple People Eater," "Drag Me to Hell," among others.
Cheek has been married to director Howard Murray since July 2004.
