Actress Elizabeth Caproni, who gained recognition for her impressions of former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, has expressed a desire to portray Sturgeon in a serious drama for Channel 5. The proposed one-off, 90-minute program is tentatively titled "To Nicola, Love Peter."

Caproni stated that Sturgeon is aware of her impressions and has reacted positively, even reposting one of Caproni's skits on social media last year. The two have exchanged private messages, with Sturgeon reportedly finding the impressions amusing.

Caproni first rose to prominence in 2024 through the BBC Hogmanay sketch show "Queen of the New Year," which featured satirical takes on Sturgeon and her husband, Peter Murrell. Murrell was later jailed in connection with an SNP embezzlement scandal.

While Caproni has not yet been approached for the drama role, she indicated that she would welcome the opportunity if it arises.

In unrelated weather news, the name Nicola has been included in the Met Office's list of severe weather front names for the upcoming winter season in the United Kingdom.
