Actress Camryn Manheim Expresses Disappointment Over Son's Heterosexuality at HRC Gala

Hollywood actress Camryn Manheim expressed her disappointment that her son is heterosexual during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner on Sunday. Manheim, known for her role in "The Practice," presented the Ally for Equality Award to her friend Marcia Gay Harden.

"I always wanted a gay son," Manheim said from the stage, as reported by Fox News. "I love that relationship between gay sons and their mothers. I wanted to be the picket sign holding mom who would beat the s--- out of somebody for her kid. I mean, let's just admit it, gay sons are the best, right?"

Manheim recounted that her son, Milo Manheim, 25, who is an actor known for the Disney Channel film franchise "Zombies," has engaged in activities she associated with LGBTQ+ culture, such as wearing high heels and drag, and knowing musical theater extensively. She shared an anecdote where she told Harden over the phone, "Oh my God, you are so f---ing lucky!" upon learning Harden's children were part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Manheim also described receiving a pair of "thigh-high patent leather boots, like kinky boots" as a gift for her son from Harden, remarking, "I thought, 'oh come on, now she is just showing off!'"

Manheim's comments drew a range of reactions online, with some users expressing dismay and others criticism. The Human Rights Campaign is described as a civil rights organization dedicated to mobilizing voters and advocating for pro-equality policies.

Mile Manheim, Camryn Manheim's son, has a notable career in acting and performance, having starred in the "Zombies" film series, appeared in the musical "Journey to Bethlehem," and competed on "Dancing with the Stars."
